CalWORKs Case Rejection Criteria
Deprivation
- Verification of deprivation is missing, expired, incorrect, or will expire in the month of transfer, and no action was taken.
- An incorrect/unclear determination of the PWE was made on an unemployed parent case.
- Unemployed parent deprivation was authorized, and either parent is on strike.
- An absent parent was added, but the Primary Wage Earner Worksheet page was not completed to determine the PWE.
- Work history was not entered in the Primary Wage Earner Worksheet page on the Unemployed Parent case.
Unrelated Adult Male (UAM)
- A UAM is in the home, and a Statement of Cash Aid - Mother and Unrelated Adult Male (UAM) (CW 71) is not requested or on file.
- The CW 71 indicates there is a contribution, and budget action was not taken.
School Attendance and Immunization Requirements
- An 18-year-old is included in the AU and will not graduate or complete high school/vocational/technical school by his/her 19th birthday and does not meet the disabled criteria for an exception.
- A child age 16 or older has been deemed a chronic truant, but their needs have not been removed from the grant. Refer to the topic, School Attendance Requirement [40-105.5] in Chapter 23 of the CalWORKs Handbook.
- A child is under six years of age and immunizations are NOT verified.
Homeless Assistance (HA)
The Statement of Facts - Homeless Assistance (CW 42) form is on file and not processed (neither approved nor denied).
Time on Aid (TOA) Limits
- An adult who has already received 60 months of CalWORKs is still aided and does not qualify as an “extender.”
- An adult received 60 months of CalWORKs, and the aid type was not changed.
- The TOA record in CalSAWS/SCATL for prior and current months is not correct.
