Step Who Action
1 Sr. Health Service Rep at HHS
  • ID/screen the patient for an existing CalSAWS case.
  • Screens patient for basic eligibility and completes an application for healthcare coverage in the appropriate system (i.e., BenefitsCal or CoveredCA).
  • If the application is submitted in BenefitsCal, uploads the Facility locations coversheet and any documents provided.
2 Designated Clerical
  • Registers the BenefitsCal application through the e-Application Search Page in CalSAWS.
  • Adds case flag type: "Hospital app".
  • Assigns pending Medi-Cal program to caseload: Intake Apps in Control, 43LS0D2303.

Note: Task and Journal entry is auto-created when caseload is assigned to a pending program.

  • Edits the Task and adds a Journal entry and notates that it is a Hospital/Clinic location, and the e-App #.
  • Verifies that the Task and Journal entries were created and that Images show for the case.
3 Eligibility Worker (EW)
  • Receives the Task and follows internal application processing procedures.
  • End dates the "Hospital app" case flag once the case is processed.

Note: HHS can inquire about applications status via email at HHSFC@ssa.sccgov.org or reach out to the District Office (DO) point of contact for application status updates.
