RSDI Procedures

When it appears the client is potentially eligible for RSDI, the EW MUST complete the following steps:

  1. Refer the client to the nearest Social Security Office.
  2. Explain to the client that failure to apply for, and accept RSDI will result in their being ineligible for GA.
  3. Complete the form titled “Referral To/From Social Security” (SCD 169) in triplicate when referring persons to apply for potential RSDI benefits. (Give two copies of the form to the client; Social Security will return a copy of the SCD 169 via the client for the case record.)
  4. Set a “Case Alert” for 60 days to follow-up on the status of the RSDI application.
  5. Once the client receives a notice for determination of benefits (either approval or denial) then:
    1. Has a copy of the award letter scanned to Imaging.
    2. Takes any required action on the case, and
    3. Documents actions taken in a Journal Entry.
