RSDI Procedures
When it appears the client is potentially eligible for RSDI, the EW MUST complete the following steps:
- Refer the client to the nearest Social Security Office.
- Explain to the client that failure to apply for, and accept RSDI will result in their being ineligible for GA.
- Complete the form titled “Referral To/From Social Security” (SCD 169) in triplicate when referring persons to apply for potential RSDI benefits. (Give two copies of the form to the client; Social Security will return a copy of the SCD 169 via the client for the case record.)
- Set a “Case Alert” for 60 days to follow-up on the status of the RSDI application.
- Once the client receives a notice for determination of benefits (either approval or denial) then:
- Has a copy of the award letter scanned to Imaging.
- Takes any required action on the case, and
- Documents actions taken in a Journal Entry.
