This chart summarizes the treatment and budgeting of non-household members and excluded members when they share expenses with eligible CalFresh household members.

Non-household members such as: Roomer. Live-in Attendant. “Other” individuals who share the residence but are NOT HH members per HH composition rules (i.e. blood/ marriage & customarily purchase and prepare food together). Prorate, counting all eligible CalFresh HH members and excluded members who meet the definition of a contributor. EXCEPTION: SUA, LUA and TUA ARE NEVER PRORATED	Subtract flat amount, and if there are no other contributors, count remainder to CalFresh HH. If there are other contributors, prorate remainder among those persons. (Do not include an ineligible student member who pays a flat rate as a contributor in the count for the proration.)
