CalFresh Handbook
Date | References | Clerical | Implementation |
07/28/25 | ACL 25-34 | N/A | Immediately |
Background
When a client claims to be physically or mentally unfit for work and the condition is not apparent, or when an ABAWD satisfies the work requirement through volunteer service, verification is required.
Changes
Two new optional forms have been developed to assist with obtaining verification:
- CalFresh Medical Certification Form (CF 887): Verifies physical or mental unfitness to work when the condition is not apparent
- CalFresh Volunteer Work Verification Form (CF 888): Verifies volunteer work hours used to satisfy the ABAWD work requirement
The following topics have been revised to reference the forms:
- ABAWD Exemptions Defined
- Satisfying the ABAWD Work Requirement
- Verification of Exemption
- Work Registration Exemption
Forms
The forms CalFresh Medical Certification Form (CF 887) and CalFresh Volunteer Work Verification Form (CF 888) are currently only available in English and can be found in the DEBS Forms Library . Once automation is implemented in CalSAWS, this update will be revised.
