Background

Assembly Bill (AB) 79 was signed into law June 30, 2020 and became effective March 4, 2021. AB 79 requires the following:

  • Requires recipients to provide information on income received during the 30 days prior to submission of their annual redetermination.
  • Eliminates the requirement that the SAR 7 form can't be signed earlier than the first day of the sixth month of the SAR period as a criteria for completeness.
  • Expands options to attempt to make a personal contact to remind an assistance unit (AU) that a redetermination or SAR 7 is due.
  • Requires an attempt to collect the necessary information to complete the processing of redetermination or SAR 7 documentation.

Changes

Responses to frequently asked questions have been provided and added to the Completion and Documentation of All Redetermination Actions and Forms topic of the Redeterminations chapter of the CalWORKs Handbook.
