Independent Living

Independent Living means that one of the following conditions apply to the CAPI applicant/recipient (or their spouse or parent who live with them and whose income is deemed to them):

• Has ownership interest in the home.
• Has rental liability.
• Lives alone.
• Lives with others and pays a pro rata share of the shelter and/or food expenses.
• Lives with others and ALL the members of the household receive public assistance.

Without Cooking Facilities

Independent living situation without cooking facilities means that the aged or disabled individual meets one of the Independent Living criteria, but does not have a stove or refrigerator.
