English Language Acquisition
A component designed to help English language learners achieve competence in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension of the English language.
ELA component must be:
- Designed to help eligible individuals who are English language learners achieve competence in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension of the English language; and
- Leads to attainment of a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent; and transition to postsecondary education and training; or employment.
Examples of ELA include, but are not limited to English as a Second Language (ESL), English Language Learners (ELL), and Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL).
