Background

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) issues the CNI rate adjustments for FC and related programs July 1st of every year.

Changes

CDSS has announced the CNI increase of 6.85% for Fiscal Year 2023-24 that is effective July 1, 2023. This increase applies to FC and related programs such as Adoption Assistance Program (AAP) and Kinship-Guardianship Assistance Payment (Kin-GAP).

Refer to Charts Handbook Chapter 3 for new and historical rates.

Forms

The “Santa Clara County Foster Care Rates Chart” form (SCD 2405) has been updated with new rates.

Implementation

The information contained in this Update is effective 7/1/23.

CalSAWS

CalSAWS programmed new rates (except for the CNI increase to the Special Care Increment Rates) on 8/7/23.

Supervisors

Eligibility Worker Supervisors must review the contents of this Update with their staff at the next unit meeting.
