When determining payments by number of eligible days

USE THIS CHART WHEN MAKING A PARTIAL MONTH PAYMENT BY DETERMINING THE NUMBER OF ELIGIBLE DAYS.

Reminder: Foster Care is NOT paid for the last day of placement (the day the child leaves).

Exception: There is a one day minimum payment ($32 effective 1/1/08) for an ESH placement (when a child enters and leaves an ESH on the same day).

1. Determine the total number of days to be paid for the placement.
2. Scan across the row to the column that corresponds to the total number of days in the payment month. The decimal figure is the fraction of the month for which the placement is to be paid.
3. Multiply the total monthly rate/benefit amount by the decimal fraction and round down, dropping all cents, to determine the rate/benefit amount to be paid for the child’s placement.

Example: A child, age 6 with the rate of $673 is placed on July 7 and leaves the facility on July 21, (14 days). Use the 31-Day column and scan down to 14 and locate the decimal (.4516) and multiply $673 x.4516 = $303.92; after rounding down (dropping all cents); the payment = $304.
