Proration of First Month Benefits
To prorate the benefit/grant amount for the number of days remaining in the month, use the chart on the following page and follow these steps:
- In column entitled “Calendar Date,” find the date of eligibility.
- Scan across to the column heading for the number of days in the current month. This decimal figure is the portion of the month for which the applicant is eligible.
- Multiply the total monthly benefit/grant amount by the decimal figure to determine the benefit/grant amount for which client is eligible for the remainder of month.
Note: For Food Stamps, drop the cents.
