CalSAWS and NOAs

All Notices of Action (NOAs) generated through CalSAWS are retained in the system and can be viewed or reprinted as necessary for audits, reviews, and hearings. When a NOA is reprinted, it is an exact replica of the original NOA that was issued to the client.

If any changes are made or information is added to a CalSAWS-generated NOA before it is mailed to the client, a copy of the revised NOA MUST be scanned into Imaging. Also, document on the Journal Detail page that the NOA was altered and scanned into Imaging.

Central Print NOAs

CalSAWS generates NOAs during the Central Print process, which are mailed or sent to the Distributed Documents Search page. NOAs remain in Distributed Documents Search page until the worker either selects Print Locally and mails the NOA, changes the print mode to Print Centrally, or deletes it.

NOAs are sent to the Distributed Documents Search page if the notice:

  • Contains a manual variable that needs to be entered by the worker, or
  •  It was programmed to be sent (e.g., all overpayment notices).

Online-Generated NOAs

CalSAWS generates NOAs when EDBC is run online, which are sent to the Distributed Documents Search page. The worker can select Print Locally and mail the NOA, or the worker can change the print mode to Central Print for the NOA to be printed and mailed automatically.

Manually-Generated NOAs

A notice may have to be issued manually in certain circumstances. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • As part of a System Annoucement, or
  • The system fails to generate a required notice, or
  • The CalSAWS system incorrectly issues a notice in English rather than in the client's primary language due to a system error.
    • Reminder: The Notice of Language Services (GEN 1365) must be included.

Manually generated NOAs must be Imaged. NOAs generated through CalSAWS are not Imaged unless the NOA was altered (e.g., a manual variable entered manually after it was printed).
