Common Place Update 23-06
Tracking For Skimming and Scamming - Obsolete 4/1/2024
Date | References | Clerical | Handbook(s) Revised |
10/2/2023 | N/A | N/A | Common Place Ch 16 |
Background
Currently each district office has an individual workflow and tracking sheet for tracking cases where skimming and scamming has occurred. This information is then reported to the CalSAWS Application Triage and Support (CATS) Management Analyst (MA). The CATS MA then consolidates the information and prepares a final report that is provided to the state and the board of supervisors, as needed.
Having individual tracking sheets and reporting to the CATS MA has lead to a misunderstanding of what information needs to be reported resulting in incomplete and inconsistent data.
Changes
CATS will no longer be responsible for tracking skimming/scamming cases effective October 2, 2023.
A SharePoint spreadsheet has been developed for all district offices to report the skimming/scamming tracked in their office. One point of contact and a back-up has been designated by each district office to access and complete the SharePoint spreadsheet. The SharePoint spreadsheet must be kept up to date with each office's reported skimming/scamming. It is important that each entry into the SharePoint is complete with correct information in each column.
The Common Place Handbook Chapter 16, under the Electronic Theft section, has been updated to reflect this change.
Implementation
This update is effective October 2, 2023.
Other Programs
This update applies to cash cases (i.e., CW, WTW supportive services, RCA, GA, CAPI) and CalFresh cases that have been skimmed or scammed.
