Baby Gateway

  1. Designated FC Clerical
    1. Receives Baby Gateway referral via FosterCareProcessing email box.
    2. Identifies infant/mother in CalWIN.
      1. If mother is in active FC or Kin-GAP case, then creates Urgent Foster Care task for EW referral.
      2. If mother is in active AAP case and resides in California, then
        1. App. reg’s a new case for the baby. 
        2. Forwards SCD 1374FC to AAC and assigns case to caseload AFMC.
        3. Informs FCE ASO to contact AAC OMC.
      3. If mother is in active AAP case and resides outside of California, then
        1. Creates task for the AAP EW.
        2. Since the infant does not meet residency requirement, AAP EW will advise parent to apply for Medicaid for the infant in their state.
      4. If mother is active in Medi-Cal only case (E9MC caseload), then
        1. App. reg.’s a new case for the baby and 
        2. Creates task for EW.
        3. Once EW activates case, then EW Supervisor will assign case to A7MB.
      5. If mother is active in THP Plus (THP+) case
        1. Follows the same steps as a Medi-Cal only case.
  2. FC EW
    1. Receives “Urgent” Baby Gateway task.
    2. Adds, as Medi-Cal only, the newborn to the minor parent’s case within 5 working days of receiving the task.
    3. Follows up with SW/PO by requesting a completed FC 2. Starts escalation process if necessary.
      1. Note: Infants born to FC and Kin-GAP recipients are entitled to the Infant Supplement.

  3. FC EW Supervisor
    1. Monitors all Baby Gateway assignments to ensure a 5 business day turn around for assignment. If the baby is not added within 5 business days, communicates with EW to expedite the process.
