Process an Emergency Caregiver (EC) Request

The process below is used for non-federally eligible EC cases. In this situation, the caregiver will receive EC/5L funding.  EC funding is limited to 120 days or 365 days with good cause. 

  1. DFCS
    1. In EW Tools folder, saves EA 1 under RFA Certificates / EA Application or sends EA 1 to FC Clerk.
    2. In EW Tools folder, saves RFA-01A under RFA Certificates / RFA01 - ARC 1.
    3. Forwards intake documents to FCE.
  2. Triage SSBS
    1. Searches for EA 1 and RFA-01A in EW Tools Folder.
      1. If the EA 1 is received but the RFA - 01A has not been received, then allows ten business days from date intake documents are received then send an email requesting a copy of the RFA-01A to RFADesk@ssa.sccgov.org
      2. If both EA 1 and RFA - 01A are provided, then forwards EA 1 and RFA 01A to FC Intake.
  3. Intake SSBS
    1. Receives and reviews documents.
    2. Ensures CalSAWS assigns correct aid code (5K or 5L).
    3. Sends RFA 105 and forwards a copy for imaging.
    4. Enters journal indicating that EC criteria is met.
    5. Completes intake process and forwards case for continuing assignment.
