Mailing Addresses

All recipients must have a specific mailing address in the county. Mailing address other than the actual residence address are allowable under CERTAIN circumstances (see below).

Post office boxes (P.O. Box) will ONLY be acceptable for rehabilitation houses and specific areas of Alviso and South County which are NOT provided with home delivery by the Postal Service. This information MUST be verified PRIOR to using a P.O. Box mailing address. 

Homeless Mailing Address

GA applicants/recipients who are homeless must complete a "Social Services Mail Request/Agreement” (SCD 1483) to indicate an alternate mailing address where they which to receive mail from Social Services. This may be an address of a friend or relative, or a Post Office Box. 

Applicants or recipients who do not have an alternate mailing address may use a Social Services District Office address or General Delivery Services from United States Post office (as noted in the SCD 1483),for their Social Services related mail.

NOTE: Workers must verify local address and/or P.O. Box. At no time shall an “out-of-county” address or P.O. Box be used. Also, c/o address to another agency are not allowed. [Refer to "Homeless Mailing Address Overview" in the Common Place HB].
