IEVS Business Processes Handbook

Date References Clerical Implementation
06/05/2024; Revised 12/13/24 ACL 24-29; ACL 24-29E N/A Immediately

Background

The R-IEVS is a federally mandated system that provides county staff with information from external data sources to assist in the determination of recipients’ continuing eligibility. The R-IEVS is a series of manual and automated matches that counties process throughout the year to verify information reported by CalWORKs and/or CalFresh recipients.

An ongoing household is required to report receiving substantial lottery and gambling winnings during the certification period and must report it within ten calendar days of receiving the winnings.

Changes

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has entered an inter-agency agreement with the California (CA) Lottery to provide monthly reports of individuals who have received lottery or gambling winnings over the maximum allowable CalFresh resource limit for elderly or disabled households. The CA Lottery R-IEVS Match is a monthly match that will contain information related to the winners’ Personal Identifiable Information (PII), benefit case information, and amount of winnings.

The topic CA Lottery R-IEVS Match has been added to the IEVS-BP Handbook.

System

Distribution of CA Lottery R-IEVS matches was delayed until September 2024.

Due to the minimal number of matches anticipated to be received.  Tasks will be manually requested if/when CA Lottery matches are received until automation of these tasks is implemented in CalSAWS.

Forms

The Income Verification (GEN 201-R) form is available in the DEBS Forms Library.
