Property Limits

Note: Effective January 1, 2024, asset limits are eliminated and should not be used in determining eligibility for Non-MAGI MC programs at application, redetermination, or when a change in circumstance is reported. All Medi-Cal policy guidance regarding property and resources remains in effect for eligibility determinations before implementation on January 1, 2024.

Effective July 1, 2022, the property limit for Non-MAGI programs is $130,000 for one person, and $65,000 for each additional person (up to a maximum of 10 people). The property limits apply to Non-MAGI programs, Long Term Care, and the Medicare Savings Programs.

The property reserve must be equal to or below the limit for the number of people in the MFBU.

Real Property Limits

  • The principal residence is exempt regardless of value.
  • The net market value limit for “Other Real Property” (property other than the principal residence) is $6,000. Other Real Property must be utilized.
