9550 - Ongoing Burman Eligible - MEDS Eligibility Update Overdue - Critical

This alert is generated when a beneficiary has been placed in a forced eligible status from a MEDS Hold for MORE THAN one month and the EW has not yet taken action to resolve the problem that generated the Hold.

A forced eligibility status indicates that MEDS is continuing the questionable eligibility on MEDS until a pending EW update is processed to report the correct current eligibility.

Possible Screens to Resolve This Alert

The INQM screenThe INQM screen indicates 4 months of forced eligibility and that the record is in a Burman Hold status. The TERM-REAS of ‘K’ indicates that when the recon process was run in November, the record was on MEDS, but not on County. As a result, the recon process posted a TERM-DATE of 11/30/06 and placed the record on Burman Hold.

Action Required

  • The EW must check prior alert messages to determine why the MEDS record was placed in a Hold status. Resolution of the alert depends on what caused the MEDS Hold. Below are some examples of why a record is placed on Burman Hold:
    • The client exceeded the allowable age for an aid category.
    • Eligibility update was rejected due to a file clearance problem and no action has taken to resolve the associated alert(s).
    • Duplicate eligibilities were reported to MEDS on the county reconciliation file and no action has taken to resolve the associated alert(s).
  • Resolve the problem identified in the original alert message(s) and then verify that eligibility for the client is reestablished on MEDS and the Hold status is released.
  • Submit an SCD 1296 requesting an MEDS online transaction to release the Hold if necessary.
