When a request for a BIC is received by MEDS, edits in the programming will check the data field for death information prior to issuance. The request will be rejected if the DEATH-CD = P or S and the VALID-MMYY of the ID card being requested is greater than the month and year of DEATH-DT or if the DEATH-CD = R and the VALID-MMYY of the ID card being requested is greater than the month and year of the TERM-DT.

Note: If the recipient is not deceased or the death date is incorrect, a referral must be made to the MEDS Coordinator via a GadWIN ticket to have the Death Code and/or Death Date removed or corrected.
