Pickle Status. This one-digit numeric code identifies the status of a potential Pickle eligible, and is input to the recipient’s MEDS record via a county transaction or MEDS update.

The only valid codes for input by counties are ‘1’, ‘2’, ‘3’, ‘7’, and ‘9’. The remaining codes are set by MEDS. The codes ‘7’ and ‘9’ do not appear on inquiries since they do not update the Pickle Status code on the database. When ‘7’ is reported, the Pickle Tickler information is eliminated from the database. When ‘9’ is reported, the Death Code will be set to ‘P’ and the current date is posted as the death date in the [DEATH-DT] field. Pickle Status 4 and 5 are associated only with Pickle Type ‘D’.
