Corrective Action Responsibilities

Corrective Action Steering Committee

The Corrective Action Steering Committee consists of DEBS administration, Program, QC/QA unit staff, and Staff Development staff and is responsible for conducting monthly strategic planning sessions to initiate, monitor evaluate and recommend corrective action activities.

Corrective Action Coordinator

The Corrective Action Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Chairing the Corrective Action Project Team (CAPT)
  • Informing CAPT of upcoming regulation changes which may need to be included in future reviews
  • Updating the Corrective Action web page on a regular basis
  • Attending county and state meetings, as needed
  • Acting as a liaison between the CA Steering Committee and the CAPT
  • Assisting with providing access to the various case review systems for supervisors and WOOCs
  • Collaborating with State and Federal Representatives in maintaining a low error rate, and
  • Other tasks, as needed.

Program Management Analyst

The Program Management Analyst will compile counts, accuracy and error trends from the QC, QA, and Supervisor reviews and provide a monthly:

  • Corrective Action Dashboard which provides data for all offices;
  • Corrective Action Progress Report which provides each office with individualized data, and
  • Assist with other reports, as needed.

DEBS Corrective Action Project Team (CAPT)

The DEBS Corrective Action Project Team structure is comprised of, but not limited to the following individuals:

  • Corrective Action Coordinator
  • QA/QC Program Control Supervisor
  • CalFresh Program Coordinator(s)
  • Medi-Cal Program Coordinator(s)
  • A supervisor from each District Office
  • QC and QA Lead Examiners
  • Staff Development Specialist Trainer, and
  • Other designated staff.

The CAPT committee is responsible for:

  • Strategizing Corrective Action Committee activities for DEBS, and
  • Making recommendations to other internal departments to develop corrective action strategies involving both CalFresh and Medi-Cal programs.

District Office Corrective Action Committees

Each District Office will maintain a CAC that reports and shares activities with the DEBS Corrective Action Project Team on a monthly basis.

A liaison will be appointed for each District Office, who will be responsible for sharing information received at the Corrective Action Project Team meetings with other District Office staff.

DEBS Managers

DEBS Managers are responsible for:

  • Supporting the supervisory review process
  • Monitoring review completion
  • Planning, approving and monitoring corrective action activities
  • Providing the supervisory review results, along with QC/QA data, to Supervisors in their respective offices, and
  • Assisting and supporting with other tasks, as needed.

Eligibility Work Supervisors

Eligibility Work Supervisors are responsible for:

  • Completing supervisory reviews
  • Monitoring case corrections
  • Assisting their DEBS Manager in planning District Office Corrective Action activities
  • Using supervisory review data for employee development
  • Identifying areas that require additional training and making recommendations to Staff Development, as appropriate, and
  • Assisting with other tasks, as needed.

QA/QC Program Control Supervisor

The QA/QC Program Control Supervisor is responsible for:

  • Assigning various types of QA reviews to the QA Eligibility Examiners in CARMA
  • Monitoring case corrections and necessary follow-up between QA and district offices
  • Assisting the Corrective Action Coordinator with planning corrective action strategies based on error trends
  • Reporting QA/QC error trends to CAPT, CalFresh Program meetings, and Corrective Action meetings
  • Attending any State meetings
  • Identifying areas that require additional training and making recommendations to Staff Development, as appropriate, and
  • Other tasks, as needed.

QA Eligibility Examiners

QA Eligibility Examiners (EEs) will be responsible for:

  • Completing QA reviews assigned on a monthly/daily basis
  • Reviewing policy and regulations on a regular basis
  • Monitoring case corrections and closures of QA reviews 
  • Reporting QA error trends during QA/QC unit meetings, and
  • Other tasks, as needed.
