Background
The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has recently provided additional guidance on certain CalFresh policies.
Changes
The CalFresh handbook has been updated, and the following chapters have been revised:
- Withdrawals are allowed at intake and recertification. Withdrawals.
- Verification of exempt income is not required unless it is questionable. Verification
- Tips received through self-employment are considered gross self-employment earned income and allow for a 40% deduction. Self Employment Earned Income
- ESAP households are not subject to the 12-month indigence determination unless a change is reported and verified during the 36 months. Refer to the Indigent Noncitizen Determination section of the Citizenship Chapter.
Documentation
It is essential to document accurate journal entries in the case record.
