Noncitizen Categories & USCIS Codes Introduction
USCIS Documents
When a noncitizen presents a USCIS document, the county must verify the USCIS status through SAVE.
USCIS documents and Section Codes are used as a tool to determine eligibility for public benefits. The INA Section Codes do not directly indicate state or federal funding. This section provides information about the most commonly used USCIS Documents and Section Codes and is not intended to be a comprehensive list.
Refer to SAVE Online System for requesting SAVE in CalSAWS or online SAVE in web portal.
Sponsorship
Immigration codes only give program eligibility status; they do not indicate whether a client is sponsored or not. You must ask the client.
