Adoption Assistance Program (AAP) Cases

The PAC EW takes the following actions when an AAP application is received:

  • Reviews the Adoption Assistance application forms that are received from the Adoptions Social Worker (AAP 2, AAP 4, FC 10, Cover Sheet and DHS 6155 if the child has health coverage).
  • If the forms are incomplete or incorrect, contacts the SW for missing information.
  • Checks CalSAWS for other cases (CalWORKs, Foster Care, Food Stamps, Medi-Cal, Wraparound).
  • If the child is active in another case, contacts the district office EW to inform them about the child’s AAP case so that the other EW can take the appropriate actions and prevent an overpayment.
  • Instructs FC EW to discontinue the Foster Care case and to complete the FC 8 for the fed/non-fed eligibility determination.
  • Checks various sources to determine if child has other income (MEDS [INQX] screen, Foster Care case and/or SW’s documents, Social Security etc. Advises SW that AAP will be denied if the child’s income exceeds the AAP rate.
  • Receives ICAMA requests and documents from the CDSS Out-of-State Placement Policy Unit, and contacts the Unit or ICAMA office in other states as needed when in-coming documents are missing or the information is incomplete.
  • Completes a “PAC Checklist” and the case summary on the “Contact-Action Summary” (SCD 163), and forwards the case to the PAC CST to complete Application Registration.
