Effective Date of Age-Related Rate Changes
The information contained in this section is for historical purposes. Age-Related rates were discontinued with the implementation of CCR January 1, 2017.
The effective date of an age-related rate change depends on the case status and the program:
- At intake CalSAWS will issue the rate level which corresponds to the age of the child on the date of application.
- For continuing FC and KG cases the effective date of an age-related rate change is the month following the month of the child’s birthday, UNLESS the child’s birthday is on the first of the month. A child whose birthday is on the first of the month is eligible for the higher rate level for that month.
- For continuing AAP cases the age related increase must be requested by the adoptive and approved by the post-adoptions SW.
Examples for FC/KG:
Case Status | Birthdate | Rate to be Paid |
Application Date and BDOA is 10/3 | Child turns age 9 on October 2 | Age 9-11 rate for October |
Application Date and BDOA is 10/3 | Child turns age 9 on October 5 | Age 5-8 for October |
Continuing Case | Child turns age 9 on October 1 | Age 9-11 rate for October |
Continuing Case |
Child turns age 9 on October 2 | Age 5-8 rate for October |
Note: Effective January 1, 2017, foster care, Kin-GAP and AAP cases are no longer paid based on the age of the child.
