Public Administrator/Guardian/Conservator
The court names the Public Guardian as the “guardian” or conservator of persons. Conservatorship is established by the Court to protect the welfare and interests of persons determined to be incompetent to handle their own affairs. A person may be placed under the conservatorship of the PAGC if there is no one else available to accept that responsibility. Persons who are conserved are not legally responsible for their own affairs and are therefore unable to apply for General Assistance (GA) on their own behalf.
The Santa Clara County PAGC office is located at 333 W. Julian St, San Jose, CA 95110, phone (408) 577-2500. Only PONY correspondence is to be sent to this address. All U.S. mail for PAGC conserved clients must be sent to P.O. Box 760, San Jose, CA 95106-0760.
All GA applications and cases for persons conserved by the PAGC’s office will be handled by the GA office.
Standard intake procedures and established eligibility criteria must be followed.
