Therapeutic Abortions

Therapeutic Abortions (TABs) applications are considered priority one emergency applications and are processed as follows:

  1. Client:
    1. Applies for MC and indicates an abortion is needed.
  2. Clerical:
    1. Provides client with an SCD 41 and SAWS 1.
    2. Explains client must complete paperwork in office.
  3. Client:
    1. Receives paperwork.
    2. Completes forms indicating that an abortion is needed.
    3. Submits paperwork to clerical.
  4. Clerical:
    1. Receives SCD 41 and SAWS 1.
    2. Performs application registration in CalSAWS.
    3. Performs case assignment in CalSAWS.
    4. Provides assigned EW with necessary paperwork and screens.
  5. EW:
    1. Receives application.
    2. Processes application as immediate need.
    3. Initiates Intake workflow window in CalSAWS.
    4. Runs EDBC and approves/denies MC, as appropriate.
    5. Sends appropriate forms to IDM.
    6. Submits to Supervisor for review.
  6. EW Supervisor:
    1. Receives and reviews case.
    2. Submits to clerical for transfer or returns to EW for corrections, as appropriate.
  7. Clerical:
    1. Receives case.
    2. Scans into IDM.
    3. Makes necessary entries in CalSAWS to transfer case.
