CalHEERS

With the implementation of the ACA in 2014, the CalHEERS was built to primarily serve as the consolidated information technology support for health insurance eligibility, enrollment, and retention for the non-subsidized and subsidized programs. Key features of the CalHEERS system are:

  • System of record for exchange programs - APTC / CSR and other non-subsidized programs,
  • Centralized eligibility BRE for MAGI Medi-Cal and exchange programs, and
  • Centralized eligibility data verification service - Utilizing interfaces with the Federal Data Services Hub, EDD and FTB.

MEDS provides the real-time and batch services to CalHEERS and CalSAWS for the following business functions:

  • Application Service
  • Eligibility Service
  • Member Service
  • Enrollment Service
