INQU - Incarceration and Suspension Information
The [INQU] screen displaysThe [INQU] screen displays an individual's incarceration period and if applicable, the suspension of Medi-Cal benefits that were sent to MEDS through the EW32 transaction. In conjunction with [INQU] screen, Restriction Codes an Eligibility Status Codes can be used to indicate partial or full month incarceration. Refer to MEDS QRG for restriction and eligibility status codes.
Corrections of previously reported incarceration and/or release dates can be made via an EW32 transaction for history months.
The following important fields are:
- STATUS: “OPEN” as the incarceration is open and ongoing; “CLOSED” as the incarceration ends (the individual has been released)
- INCAR DATE: the actual date of incarceration. If unknown, the earlier date the individual was incarcerated is used.
- SUSPEND DATE: the date of transaction to add the incarceration is processed (the EW32 transaction date) in the format MM/DD/YYY
- SUSPEND END: the date of the end of Medi-Cal benefit suspension. MEDS will auto-populate this date one day prior to the Release Date once the Release Date is entered.
- RELEASE DT: the actual date the individual was released from incarceration. This allows the Medi-Cal eligibility reinstated (see MOPI screen)
To Obtain
- Select option by typing ‘QU’ in the [INQS] screen and press Enter, or
- From any of the queried individual’s response screens, type ‘QU’ in the Option field and press Enter.
