9600 - Active State MCIEP - Evaluate for Suspension Request (EW32) - Urgent

Eligibility for Medi-Cal Inmate Eligibility Program (MCIEP) has been added to the MEDS record and an email notification with incarceration date has been sent to the County of Responsibility of the active Medi-Cal case when the incarceration is not currently reported to MEDS for this member.

This alert is sent to the State MCIEP team. It is generated once at the first Renewal after MCIEP eligibility is added to MEDS record with active Medi-Cal eligibility. The incarceration may need to be reported using the EW32 transaction. 

Action Required

• If the incarceration has not been reported to MEDS, State MCIEP staff will send a reminder to the County of Responsibility to review the case and assess whether the incarceration should be reported to MEDS in accordance with suspension of benefits policy for incarcerated Medi-Cal members.
• If a suspension is applicable, update all necessary information in CalSAWS in order to submit the EW32 transaction to report the incarceration to MEDS to suspend benefits following existing policies and procedures for suspension, and issue the appropriate Notice of Action (NOA).
