Supportive Services Payments

The following payments for Supportive Services may be issued to Vocational Services participants to help with qualifying VS Employment and Training related expenses.

Transportation

Transportation allowance is equal to the cost of an adult monthly pass and it is issued to qualifying VS participants to attend their required Vocational Services activities.

The following conditions apply:

  • Transportation payment may be issued once per month to qualifying active VS participants assigned to approved activities.
  • Participants may not receive transportation allowance in a participating month if they received a bus pass through the UPLIFT program for the same month.

NOTE: Transportation allowance issued is not to be counted as income in the GA program.

Ancillary Payments

Ancillary payments are issued to qualifying VS participants to help with employment and training expenses such as: training materials, interviewing clothing, work tools, required uniforms, union fees that are required to initiate employment, and other payments that are reasonable and necessary to enhance participants' chances of achieving self-sufficiency.  

The following conditions apply:

  • Ancillary payments are to be issued one-time only per fiscal year to qualifying VS participants. The fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th of each year. 
  • Participants MUST provide verification of need such as: job offer letter, etc. 
  • Participants are NOT required to provide receipts of purchases.

NOTE: Ancillary Payments issued are not to be counted as income in the GA program.

 

Transportation and Ancillary Payments are issued via the CalSAWS system.  Refer to Chewable Byte CB 2023-34 for system instrutions. 

Required Forms:

"Vocational Services  - Supportive Services Payment Related Expense Certification" (SCD 2570 )

The form SCD 2570 explains the purpose of the payment issuance and certifies that the participant must use the payment for its intended purpose. The SCD 2570 must be signed by the participant prior to the payment issuance. A copy of the signed form must be issued to the participant and sent for Imaging.

“General Assistance/General Relief (GA/GR) Supportive Services” (CSF 152)

Participant receiving transportation payment must also be provided with a “General Assistance/General Relief (GA/GR) Supportive Services Notice” (CSF 152) with every transportation allowance issued. The form CSF 152 is obtainable from CalSAWS.
