TANF versus CalWORKs Clocks
TANF and CalWORKs programs each impose separate 60-month time limits on the receipt of aid and/or assistance for the parent or caretaker of an aided child. Each clock is tracked separately, and the calculations may differ depending on the type of assistance or services received, or whether an individual meets a condition exempting them from the time clock.
The examples below show how TANF and CalWORKs time limits are impacted. For all of them, as of May 2022, an individual received CalWORKs for 28 countable and cumulative CalWORKs and TANF months and continues to maintain eligibility.
Example 1
