Background

CalWORKs Handbook Chapter 42: Homeless Assistance has been updated with policy clarification regarding the Homeless Assistance (HA) program, including, but not limited to, the following subjects:

• Usage of the Statement of Facts - Homeless Assistance (CW 42)
• Required verification
• Notices of Action (NOAs)
• Mismanagement of funds
• Fraud Early Detection (FRED) referrals.

Additionally, Chapter 42 has been reformatted to enhance clarity and improve overall readability.

Changes

The following topics have been revised:

• Homeless Assistance Program Eligibility
• Homeless Assistance Application
• Temporary Homeless Assistance (THA)
• Expanded THA
• Permanent Homeless Assistance (PHA)
• Homeless Assistance Exceptions
• Homeless Assistance Payment Information.

The following topic has been removed:

• Case Transfer Concerns.
