Update 24-06: Increase to the Maximum Aid Payment (MAP) Levels and to the Federal Fiscal Year 2025 Income Reporting Threshold (IRT)

Background

On July 2, 2024, the Governor signed Assembly Bill (AB) 161 to increase the Maximum Aid Payment (MAP) levels by 0.3 percent effective October 1, 2024.

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) revised the Income Reporting Threshold (IRT) that triggers the recipient income reporting requirements for the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2025.

Additionally, the Child MAP Chart has been updated to determine if child support received on behalf of a child is greater than the amount of aid the child is eligible for in order to be opted-out of the Assistance Unit (AU). TEMP 2250 (6/24) - State Law Changes the Maximum Aid Payment Levels for Cash Aid Recipients

TEMP 2250 (6/24) was sent to all active CalWORKs AUs to inform them of the MAP change on September 7, 2024. This form was also added to DEBS Forms Library.

TM44-315O (7/24) - Grant Increase/Law Change

This NOA message is sent to cash assistance AUs when the grant will increase due to the MAP increase.

Data Systems

The CalSAWS mass update for both the MAP and IRT values were run on September 7, 2024. Both the TEMP 2250 (6/24) and the TM44-315O (7/24) were generated by CalSAWS.

Other Programs

The MAP and IRT increase also apply to Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA), Entrant Cash Assistance (ECA), and Trafficking and Crime Victims Assistance Programs (TCVAP).

CalFresh noticing rules have not changed. AUs with CalFresh benefits affected by their grant increase will receive a separate notice about their CalFresh benefits.

The Intake Informing Packets must include the TEMP 2250 (6/24) through the end of October 2024.
