Background
With CalSAWS Release 24.03 introducing a new EBT Theft Detail page, procedures for tracking EBT skim/scam have changed.
Changes
Effective April 1, 2024, EBT skim/scam information can be pulled directly from CalSAWS. District Offices will no longer track skimming/scamming cases through a SharePoint spreadsheet.
EWs must complete mandatory fields and all specified non-mandatory fields as instructed in Chewable Bytes 2024-97: How to Enter EBT Theft Detail Page. This information is necessary for tracking purposes in CalSAWS.
Common Place Update 23-06: Tracking For Skimming and Scamming is obsolete. The Tracking section in Common Place Handbook Chapter 16 Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) has been renamed to Tracking in CalSAWS and the content has been revised.
Forms
EWs can now use EBT 2259 in CalSAWS since it has been updated to match the latest State version from the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) website.
The Form section of Common Place Update 23-05: Policy and Report of Electronic Theft of Benefits (EBT 2259) has been revised.
Notices
EWs can generate EBT Replacement NOAs from the EBT Theft Detail page or the Template Repository.
The Notices section of Common Place Update 23-07: Changes to CalFresh Electronic Theft Replacement Policy and Chewable Bytes 2023-21: How to Replace Skimmed or Scammed Cash and CalFresh Benefits have been revised to remove instructions on how to create a manually freeform NOA (CSF 166).
