HCBS-DD (SARC) Waiver Program Approval
Case Situation
Parents of an 11 year-old developmentally disabled child apply for Medi-Cal for their child under the DDS-HCBS Waiver Program. Father is employed full-time with income over limit. Child is not eligible for MAGI or regular Medi-Cal with no share of cost, but he is eligible for the Waiver Program (Aid Code 6V).
Refer to CalSAWS "Job Aid (JA) Requested Medi-Cal Types", for additional instructions.
- On the Case Summary page:
- Click the View Detail button in the Medi-Cal Program block.
- On the Medi-Cal Detail page:
- Click the Edit button, when page refreshes click the Edit button for 11 years old child in the Program Persons page section.
- On the Medi-Cal Person Detail page:
- Click the Add button in the Requested Medi-Cal Types section.
- On the Requested Medi-Cal Type Detail page:
- Select DDS HCBS Waiver from the Requested Medi-Cal Type drop down list and complete other mandatory fields.
- Click on Save and Return all the way out.
- Complete other Data Collection pages relevant to the case.
- Run EBDC, review budget and eligibility results on the Medi-Cal EDBC Summary page and Accept and Save results.
- The Eligible Budget for MEDS page section signifies the Aid Code that will be sent to MEDS.
Transactions Generated by CalSAWS to MEDS
Add (EW20) transactions for the current and future months are sent to MEDS. As CalSAWS considers each authorized month a closed period of eligibility, a TERM-DT and a TERM-REAS of ‘99’ will be displayed on the INQM screen. Eligibility for the future month will appear under the Pending column until MEDS renewal.
