Minor Consent Renewal

Case Situation

Same pregnant minor from above example comes in to request Minor Consent renewal for the current month.

For procedure on how to Repend Minor Consent case, refer to the CalSAWS "Job Aid (JA) Medi-Cal - Minor Consent Program – Process " Repending Minor Consent Case section.

The case is in discontinued status and must be rescinded in order to grant Minor Consent for the current month.

On the New Person Search page enter minor's Last Name, First Name, DOB and Gender
On the New Person Search Results page:

Confirm or Select the radio button for the minor with no SSN.
Click the Select buttonOn the New Person Detail page click the Continue button.

3. On the Previous Case List page click the Case Number hyperlink for the Minor Consent case.

4. On the Case Summary page:

Enter or Confirm 1st Day of the Reapplication Month in the Display field.
Click the View button if a different month was entered.
Click the View Details button.

5. On the Medi-Cal Detail page click on the Edit button then on Reapply button in the Program Persons page section.

6. On the New/Reapplication Detail page confirm the Primary Applicant correctly displays on the Primary field and update all required information.

7. Click Save and Return button.

8. Complete other Data Collection pages relevant to the case.

9. Run EDBC and review for an expected result prior to Accepting and Saving.

10. Submit an SCD 1296 to activate 7N aid code in MEDS and to issue paper BIC.

Transactions Generated by CalSAWS to MEDS

CalSAWS does not generate transactions to activate Minor Consent in MEDS. The EW must submit an SCD 1296 requesting the MTO to issue benefits online.
