Pickle Approval 

Case Situation

68 year old female applies for Medi-Cal. She was discontinued from SSI/SSP in January 2020. She has been receiving Social Security retirement benefit in amount of $1400.00 per month.

1. On the Customer Options Detail page:
   1. Select Full Medi-Cal Hierarchy from the Type drop down list.
   2. Complete other required fields.
2. On the Income Detail page:
   1. Select Social Security Retirement from the Type drop down list.
   2. Complete other required fields.
   3. In the Pickle Eligibility page section, select answers for all questions including Date eligible for and last received SSI/SSP and Date RSDI (Social Security) Benefits begin.
   4. Click on Add in the Income Amounts page section and enter Social Security retirement on the Income Amount Detail page.
3. Complete other Data Collection pages relevant to the case.
4. Run EDBC and review for the correct aid code and budget prior to Accepting and Saving results.
5. The Medi-Cal EDBC Summary page indicates the applicant with passed result.
   1. The Eligible Budget for MEDS page section signifies the Aid Codes that will be sent to MEDS.
   2. Clicking on Pickle hyperlink, the Medi-Cal EDBC - Pickle page will display income determination.
   3. Clicking on Unearned Income Deductions amount hyperlink the EDBC Person Line Item Detail - MC Unearned Income Deductions page will indicate Pickle Disregard calculation.
