MEDS Reconciliation Alerts
- Two types of MEDS Recon alerts are generated from the Recon process:
- Recon Data Validation and File Clearance Worker Alerts are generated from the County Input and MEDS Extract processes. The alerts notify EWs of the validation and file clearance errors that are found during the Recon process.
- Recon Discrepancy Worker Alerts are generated from the Recon Compare and Update Process. The alerts notify EWs that data discrepancies are found in critical Recon data fields. The alerts also indicate whether a MEDS update transaction was generated. Recon discrepancy alerts are not issued when discrepancies are found in non-critical fields.
- Recon alerts are numbered from 6000 through 6499. Refer to County Eligibility Worker Alerts: 4000 - 8999 for detailed descriptions and the required actions for each alert.
- The critical and priority Recon alerts are available in the county’s BI (as known as Business Objects). They are also viewable from the Request for Online Worker Alert Inquiry [INWA] screen.
Refer to INWA - MEDS Worker Alerts for access information.
- It is IMPORTANT that EWs review and resolve all Recon alerts within five (5) working days. Unresolved alerts may impact clients’ eligibility and their ability to access medical services and/or treatment.
- If a Hold is placed on a record as a result of the Recon process, the EW MUST take immediate action to correct CalSAWS/MEDS/CalHEERS and to release the Hold on MEDS. If necessary, submit a SCD 1296 to have the Hold released online.
- A Recon MEDS alert generated in CalHEERS is also displayed in [INWA] screen in MEDS for an individual who has a CalSAWS case. EWs are not required to update MEDS messages/alerts status in CalHEERS, but highly recommended to review the MEDS alert in CalHEERS and ensure the individual data associated with the MEDS alert in sync in three systems (CalSAWS, CalHEERS and MEDS).
For additional guidance to process a MEDS alert, refer to Quick Guide for Processing MEDS Alerts and MEDS Alerts Real Examples and Fixes, found on MEDS Program web page.
Alerts Distribution
When Recon MEDS alerts are received, CalSAWS will automatically crate and assign Worker Tasks quarterly (February, May, August & November). One Task is created for one case number with one or multiple alerts; the Task displays Person Name, SSN, DOB and CIN, the Alert ID displays alert number, and the Alert Description displays alert explanation.
Note: Daily and Renewal MEDS alerts are retrieved and distributed to eligibility staff by a designated MA at each District Office.
