9003 - Death Reported to MEDS - MEDS/CDB Eligibility Terminated - Urgent
This alert is generated whenever MEDS receives information indicating that the recipient is deceased. The death information comes from one of the following sources:
- Medi-Cal Eligibility Branch (MEB)
- Pickle status update
- BIC returned by Post Office marked “Addressee Deceased”
- SDX update with a deceased status code
- Vital Statistics update.
Refer to DEATH-CD.
Note: TERM-REAS code “D0” will display for a returned IRS mail (Form 1095-B and/or a Notice for Requested Action (NFRA)) when the returned mail indicates a MC beneficiary is deceased.
Action Required
Verify whether the recipient is deceased and take the following action:
- If deceased, enter the death information on the Decease Date field on the Individual Demographics Detail page to terminate eligibility in CalSAWS.
- If the recipient is not deceased, a referral must be made via a GadWIN ticket to the MEDS Coordinator so that the death code and date can be removed.
