9054 - SSN Ver Removal Also Removed SSA Citizen/Identity Ver - Action

This message indicates that the SSN Verification code (A, C, or E) on the SSN-VER field has been removed by the user. SSN Verification removal will also remove the SSA Citizenship/Identity Verification from MEDS. The action is triggered because SSA Citizenship/Identity Verification is dependent on a validated SSN.

MEDS will change the Citizenship and Identity DOC-TYPE from 2Z to 9S. Also, the Citizenship and Identity DOC-SOURCE will be updated to the county number of the county submitting the removal transaction.

Action Required

  • Review case to ensue the SSN Verification was not inadvertently removed. If applicable, enter the correct information (SSN, name, date of birth) in CalSAWS and wait two business days in order for the SSA data match process to repeat.
  • If the individual has acceptable citizenship/identity documentation on file, update CalSAWS and MEDS with this information.

Example: If the client has a Tier 3 or lower document that was earlier recorded on MEDS but later replaced by the SSA Citizenship Verification (now removed). Update CalSAWS, if necessary, and MEDS to reflect that the acceptable documents are on file.

  • If the individual is not exempt or has already met the DRA requirements, initiate the process for requesting acceptable DRA documentation of citizenship and identity from the client.
