9060 - Institutionalized Client Reported by County - Alert

This daily alert indicates that a client’s Medi-Cal eligibility has been suspended when the client is incarcerated or released from incarceration. The Public Institution is responsible for medical coverage during the suspension period.

The message includes the suspension start date and release date, if reported. If the client is still incarcerated, the release date will default to 12/31/9999 until such time as the responsible county updates MEDS with the release date or end of suspension.

Action Required

The worker must evaluate the suspension period, determine if it impacts the client’s case and take the appropriate actions.

Refer to MC HB Chapter 28: Specific Institutional Programs, Section Medi-Cal Suspensions for detailed instructions.
