0461 - Death Reported to MEDS - MEDS/CDB Eligibility Terminated - Urgent
The State Department of Vital Statistics has informed DHCS that the recipient has died. DHCS has terminated the recipient’s MEDS record and this CEWA has been issued to the EW so that the Medi-Cal Benefits can be discontinued in CalSAWS.
The date of death will be posted to the MEDS record in the [DEATH-DT] field. The [LAST-OTH-CHG] field will contain the date on which the action was taken by MEDS. The [DEATH-CD] field will contain a ‘V’, which indicates that Vital Statistics supplied the information to terminate the recipient. The termination date posted to the MEDS record will be the last calendar day of the month in which the recipient died. All months on MEDS after the termination date are changed to show that the individual is not eligible for Medi-Cal.
Action Required
If the recipient is not deceased, after going through the proper channels, a GadWIN ticket must be generated for each record with the relevant MEDS and CalSAWS screenshots attached.
