4802 - SSN Verified Via SSA NUMIDENT Match to Deceased Record - Action
This daily alert is generated when SSN has been verified for this individual via a match to SSA's NUMIDENT file, which is the master file for SSN issuance. SSA's records for this SSN indicate that the client is deceased. The death date on MEDS will be updated, if appropriate, based on SSA's information.
Action Required
The EW must:
- Review case records or contact the next of kin to verify that the client is in fact deceased.
- Check for SSN Verification discrepancy messages that may accompany this alert.
- If the client IS deceased, enter the death information on the Decease Date field of the Individual Demographics Detail page to terminate eligibility in CalSAWS.
- If the client is NOT deceased, review CalSAWS to ensure that the reported SSN is correctly entered.
- If the SSN is incorrect, enter the correct SSN on the SSN Detail page.
- If the SSN is correct, submit a GadWIN ticket to request that the Death Date and Death Code to be removed.
- If necessary, refer the client to SSA with form MC 194 to resolve any SSA data discrepancies.
