MEDS/CDB Reconciliation

  • The MEDS/CDB Reconciliation process is run quarterly by the DHCS, ITSD
  • The process compares active recipients on MEDS/CDB to active recipients on CalSAWS to identify discrepancies.
  • MEDS/CDB data will be changed to agree with CalSAWS, if possible.
  • If the discrepancy cannot be corrected by the reconciliation process, alerts will be generated to the EW for appropriate corrective action.
  • The worker must identify error(s) and make any necessary corrections within 5 WORK DAYS from receipt of the reconciliation error message(s). If Reconciliation imposes a hold on the future month’s Medi-Cal eligibility, the MEDS system will additionally generate a transaction into the MEDS-Generated Hold Database (e.g. Burman).
  • Effective September 25, 2017, CalHEERS adds the CalHEERS-MEDS Reconciliation process for programs managed by CalHEERS (APTC, CSR, CCP, MCAP, & CCHIP) that will send monthly recon batch (new transaction, RX20) to MEDS on the first weekend of every month.

Note: Any Reconciliation Holds placed on records in an Aid Code covered under the Edwards Court settlement (e.g. 01, 08, 30, 33, 35, 39, 3E, 3G, 3H, 3L, 3M, 3P, 3R, 3U, 40, 42, 4C, 4F, 4G, 54 and 59), which are not corrected by MEDS Renewal, are automatically converted to Edwards (Aid Code 38) for the future and continuing months.

Refer to MEDS HB MEDS Reconciliation/Burman Holds for a detailed explanation of both the Reconciliation process and the MEDS-Generated Hold Database. That chapter also includes an explanation of the reports generated by these processes and corrective action instructions.
