1513 - HIC-NO Belongs to Another MEDS-ID - Priority - Accept
This alert is generated whenever a transaction contains a HIC number which has been identified as belonging to another MEDS record. The MEDS-ID of the other record is displayed on the CEWA. The HIC number has been removed from the transaction.

Possible Screens To Resolve This Alert
- EnterEnter the MEDS ID in the HIC Number Cross-Reference INXH screen.
- The HIC-NOThe HIC-NO Cross Reference Report shows that HIC number is also associated with the transaction MEDS ID.
Action Required
The EW must query the other record on MEDS. Determine whether there are two records for one recipient or one of the records (two recipients) has an incorrect HIC number associated with it.
If There Are Two Records For One Recipient
- Determine which record (which CNTY-ID) should be closed. Contact the other EW and work together to discontinue the incorrect record.
- Following MEDS Renewal in the month of discontinuance, complete an SCD 1296, requesting the MTO generate an EW11 (Chain) transaction to link the two records together.
If One Of The Records (Two Recipients) Has An Incorrect HIC Number
- If the other record (not your client) has the incorrect HIC number, contact the other worker to request their record be corrected.
- If your client’s record contains the incorrect HIC number, enter the HIC Number displayed on HIC-NO field on INQM in the HIC Number field on the Medicare Detail page.
