1523 - Alien-No Belongs to Another MEDS-ID - Alert
This daily MEDS alert is generated when an alien number (A #) is being used in MEDS under a different MEDS-ID.
Action Required
The EW must review the other MEDS-ID listed on the alert message [INWD] screen and determine whether there are records for one recipient or one of the records has incorrect alien number.
If There Are Two Records For One Recipient
- Check a SAVE report and verify an A # with full name and DOB displayed on the USCIS document (e.g. I-551, I-767, I-94, etc.). If necessary, request the USCIS document.
- Determine which MEDS record (COUNTY-ID) should be closed. If needed, contact the other EW and work together to discontinue the incorrect record.
- Delete the A Number on the Individual Demographics Detail page and/or the A Number on the Citizenship Status Detail page from the incorrect record.
- If there is also two records in CalSAWS, follow the guidance outlined in MEDS HB Chapter 3: MEDS/CDB Record Changes, Section Duplicate Person/CIN Correction Process.
- Submit an SCD 1296 to request an EW11 transaction to merge the two MEDS records.
If One Of The Records (Two Recipients) Has An Incorrect Alien Number
- After verifying an A # listed on the alert message is correct and if the other record (not your client) has the incorrect A #, contact the other worker to request their record be corrected.
- If your client’s record has incorrect A #, enter the correct A Number on the Individual Demographics Detail page and/or A Number on the Citizenship Status Detail page. Check MEDS in two working days for the correct A # displayed on the [INQE] screen.
