1522 - MBI Belongs to Another MEDS-ID
This alert is generated when a MBI number on a transaction is being used under a different MEDS-ID.
Action Required
The EW must review the other MEDS record and determine whether there are two records for one recipient or one of the records (two recipients) has an incorrect MBI number associated with it.
If There Are Two Records For One Recipient
- Determine which record (which CNTY-ID) should be closed. Contact the other EW and work together to discontinue the incorrect record.
- Ensure a correct MBI number that displays in the correct record.
- Complete an SCD 1296, requesting the MTO generate an EW11 (Chain) transaction to link the two records together.
If One Of The Records (Two Recipients) Has An Incorrect MBI Number
- If the other record (not your client) has the incorrect MBI number, contact the other worker to request their record be corrected.
- If your client’s record contains the incorrect MBI number, enter the correct MBI number obtained from MEDS to the MBI Number field on the Medicare Detail page.
