Types of Change Transactions
Both the type of transaction generated by CalSAWS and when it will be effective on MEDS depends on what entry/entries are made by the EW on the Data Collection pages. Below are examples of CHANGE transactions that can be accomplished in the current and the future month.
Current Month Change Transactions
- ADDRESS CHANGE (EW12) - Modify transaction for person(s) with an active status only.
- NAME CHANGE (EW12 or FX30) - Modify transaction for person(s) with an active status only.
- WORKER NUMBER CHANGE (EW12 or FX30) - Modify transaction for person(s) with an active status only.
- BIRTHDATE CHANGE (EW12 or FX30) - Modify transaction for person(s) with either an active or inactive status; must have had active Medi-Cal (including cash-based) or CalFresh history on CalSAWS within the last twelve (12) months for the transaction(s) to be generated for persons with an inactive status.
- SSN CHANGE (EW10 or FX10) - SSN (MEDS-ID) Change transaction for person(s) with either an active or inactive status; must have had active Medi-Cal (including cash-based) or CalFresh history on CalSAWS within the last twelve (12) months for the transaction(s) to be generated for persons with an inactive status.
- SEX, ETHNIC, LANGUAGE, SSN-VER CODE CHANGE - (EW12 or FX30) Modify transaction for person(s) with either active or inactive status; must have had active Medi-Cal (including cash-based) or CalFresh history on CalSAWS within the last twelve (12) months for the transaction(s) to be generated for persons with an inactive status.
- HIC NUMBER CHANGE (EW12) - Modify transaction for person(s) with either an active or inactive status; must have had active Medi-Cal history on CalSAWS within the last twelve (12) months for the transaction to be generated for persons with an inactive status.
Future Month Change Transactions
- SHARE OF COST CHANGE (EW30) - Modify transaction for person(s) with an active status.

- LTC INDICATOR CHANGE (EW30) - Modify transaction for person(s) with an active status only.
- AID CODE CHANGE (EW30 or FX30) - Modify transaction for person(s) with an active status only, if a future date is entered as the effective date.
- OTHER HEALTH COVERAGE CHANGE (EW12) - Modify transaction for person(s) with an active status only.
